“It was clear I was His, and I was meant to be there”
Beverly Smith grew up in the Church, and although she loved Jesus, she began to question some aspects of Christianity in her teenage years. Around this time, she heard about Meher Baba through a close friend. She immediately felt drawn to Him, although viewed him as a Master and not the God-man. Interwoven with her lifelong path of music, she shares how Baba slowly pulled her in closer and closer to Him, on a path that led her to Myrtle Beach, overland to India, and eventually firmly into His arms.

“If you don’t bargain or barter with Baba, He gives you full, overfull”
When Bal Natu got a summons to go to Meherabad in August of 1949, he had no idea why. On the way, he ran into another Baba lover who wondered if Bal was going to join the New Life. Before Bal got a chance to ask him what that was, the man got off the bus. Indeed, it wasn’t until Bal was handed a list of conditions that he fully understood he was being asked to leave everything and go with Baba. Bal immediately said “yes” and began to prepare. He went home, resigned his teaching job and bought the required clothing, etc. But in the end, Baba had other plans for Bal.

“Science, when properly handled, can be the expression of the fulfillment of the spirit”
In this intellectually stimulating and easily understandable talk, Rich Blum addresses Meher Baba’s explanations about science and technology. Noting the teachings from every Avataric Advent vary according to the time and culture (while the underlying truth is the same), Rich points out that during Baba’s advent science and technology have advanced to “extreme degrees.” From Darwin to Freud to Einstein, Rich examines each theoretician’s work through the lens of Meher Baba’s teaching, seamlessly tying together science and spirituality. He then goes on to contemplate how Baba may have reacted to more recent scientific advances such as AI.

Experiencing the Three Incredible Weeks, as told by Darwin Shaw
In September, 1954, twenty Western men had the unique opportunity to spend three weeks in the company of Avatar Meher Baba. It was a chance to participate in the Master’s daily life of service and to be in His intimate companionship on a day-to-day basis.
In this exquisite video, Darwin Shaw shares his experience of being at this Sahavas. Recorded by Bill Cliff and put together by Jamie Newell, this talk was given at Beloved Baba’s Tin Shed at Meherabad in 1982. Darwin brings Baba to life for us as we feel His love just as strongly, more than seventy years after that gathering.

“To embrace Baba is to embrace a cloud”
Michael LePage was fortunate enough to grow up in Meher House in Sydney, Australia. He lived there with his parents Bill and Joan, sisters Jenny and Ruth, and, for several years, his “uncle” Francis Brabazon. They hosted Meher Baba there on his 1956 visit to Australia. In this talk, Michael begins by discussing a man named Baron von Frankenburg who was a follower of the Sufi leader Inayat Khan. The baron eventually came into Meher Baba’s orbit and ultimately funded the construction of Meher House. Michael then goes onto share wonderful stories of Francis, as well as his own childhood experiences of meeting Meher Baba.

“He is always triumphant. He is Himself success.”
Meher Baba’s close disciple and secretary Adi K. Irani tackles the meaning of “Jai Baba.” Noting the phrase is said with such frequency in the Baba community that “we do not even bother to find out what it really means. “From there Adi takes on the meaning of the word Avatar, and the Avatar’s relationship to God. With clarity and dexterity, he explains the confounding conundrums inherent in that relationship. For a transcript of this talk, click here.

“He put a drop of love in my heart”
Stuart Baker was raised in a secular Jewish family where “there was a lot of guilt and a lot of great cooking.” His mother also had a bleak assessment of life as “hard and unfair,” which Stuart refused to accept. That launched him on an extraordinary inner journey as a teenager during which he accompanied by his “best friend, God.” That empowered him and eventually, after a period of disillusionment, led him to Meher Baba. Stuart soon traveled to the Center, then to India, and eventually moved to Myrtle Beach in his early 20s. And that’s just the beginning of his uplifting story.

“His Grace is Unbounded”
In this highly emotional and touching video, Jeff Williams and Cynthia Thomas share their individual stories and how Baba eventually brought them lovingly together. Jeff’s early life was riddled with violence, some of which was extreme. (Just a note, some parts of his story are difficult to hear.) Jeff felt abandoned by all, especially God, even though he also knew God was within. When he was in his early 20’s, he heard about Meher Baba and his life began to change. Cynthia’s story is quite different. An only child, she was raised in an immigrant family in Boston and went to Catholic schools. But she never felt comfortable in her heart with religion. In her early 20s, she met a man, converted to Judaism, married and had three children. She also became a highly successful designer. But she was always seeking. Through a series of perfect Baba coincidences, Jeff and Cynthia eventually met, fell in love, married and they now live happily in Myrtle Beach.
